Weekend Respite Services
St. Joseph’s Villa provides Weekend Respite Services to families with children with developmental disabilities (including autism and mental retardation, to name two) who also may be dually diagnosed with emotional and/or behavioral disorders.
Families may bring a child to Seton House (7700 Brook Road) on Friday evening and then pick the child up on Sunday afternoon. The center provides socialization with peers, therapeutic recreation (arts and crafts, music, and physical activity), community integration, personal care, along with nutritious meals and snacks that are USDA approved.
Weekend Respite Services can be a great relief to a family dealing with the responsibility and stress of constant care for a special-needs child.
The cost of the services is approximately $575 per child per weekend. Many families can receive funding for weekend respite service through Medicaid waivers, but there is a long waiting list to receive these waivers.
