The Believing is Seeing Campaign for
St. Joseph's Villa

We’re not just changing our campus – we’re changing lives

As we celebrate more than 175 years serving the community, the Board of Trustees has taken on the responsibility of ensuring the Villa will remain a responsive community resource for generations to come. The Believing Is Seeing Campaign, in conjunction with public grants and organizational funds, supports the redevelopment of our historic 82-acre campus.

Since the campaign began in 2009, our campus has seen dramatic change and revitalization in order to create a more therapeutic environment that will enhance safety and learning for the more than 500 children and families we serve each day.

Our new perimeter road with a new entrance on Parham Road separates the 450+ vehicles that enter the Villa’s campus each day from pedestrians, wheelchairs, and outdoor learning and play areas. We have also enhanced wheelchair accessibility with improved sidewalks and the new covered drop off zones facilitate smoother transitions for our students.

The new pedestrian avenue links all the Villa’s services. It provides an ideal space for outdoor play with enhanced playgrounds, picnic pavilions, and gathering spaces to promote teamwork, confidence-building, environmental stewardship, and programmatic excellence in outdoor learning. These spaces and the restored gardens also foster the therapeutic healing which is critical to those we serve.

The repair of shared spaces at the Villa has included renovations of our administration building and the gymnasium. All campus improvements and new infrastructure help ensure that the Villa can accommodate changing needs in the community and support any future new buildings.

The Villa’s improved infrastructure and technology provide for a more sustainable campus. Our new steam heat distribution system supplies the entire campus with secure, efficient heat. To promote state of the art assistive technology in classrooms we have installed new phone and network technology campus-wide.

This unique project will build capacity, increase environmental efficiency, restore the natural features of our therapeutic setting, and enhance the impact and scope of our programs, which serve nearly 1,000 of the community’s most vulnerable children and families each year.
