The Believing is Seeing Campaign for
St. Joseph's Villa

We’re not just changing our campus – we’re changing lives

As we celebrate 175 years serving the community, the Board of Trustees took on the responsibility of ensuring the Villa would remain a responsive community resource for generations to come. The Believing Is Seeing Campaign, in conjunction with public grants and organizational funds will support the redevelopment of our historic 82-acre campus to:

Improve Safety and Accessibility. A perimeter road with a new entrance on Parham Road will separate the 450+ vehicles that enter the Villa’s campus each day from pedestrians, wheelchairs, and outdoor learning and play areas. Wheelchair accessibility will be enhanced, and new covered drop off zones will facilitate transitions for students, residents, and staff. Lighting around campus will be tripled.

Enhance Healing and Learning. A new pedestrian mall will restore the heart of campus. Enhanced playgrounds, picnic pavilions, and gathering spaces will promote teamwork, confidence-building, environmental stewardship, and programmatic excellence in outdoor learning. These spaces and the restored gardens will also foster the therapeutic healing which is critical to those we serve.

Renovate Shared Spaces and Prepare for the Future. As part of our renovation project, the Villa has already renovated the administration building and the gymnasium. All campus improvements and new infrastructure help ensure that the Villa can accommodate changing needs in the community and support any future new buildings.

Update Technology and Infrastructure. A new steam heat distribution system will supply the entire campus with secure, efficient heat. Phone and network technology will be installed to build capacity and promote state of the art assistive technology in classrooms. The Villa is committed to campus sustainability and seeks to use environmentally-conscious materials for all improvements.

This unique project will build capacity, increase environmental efficiency, restore the natural features of our therapeutic setting, and enhance the impact and scope of our programs, which serve nearly 1,000 of the community’s most vulnerable children and families each year.
