The Dooley School

The Dooley School at St. Joseph’s Villa,
for middle- and high-school students with learning disabilities and behavioral issues,
Dooley Elementary School,
an elementary-school program for students with a variety of learning disabilities, and
The Dooley Center for Alternative Education,
for students who have been suspended or expelled from their local high school.

Students are placed into these programs by their local school system; a placing agent in the school system determines that the child would benefit more from attending one of the St. Joseph’s Villa programs than from attending the child’s local school.

Each program contains both academic and behavioral components. Counselors are on staff to help students better manage problem behaviors.

Each program’s goal is to prepare the child for returning to his or her local school.

During the 2007/08 school year, students at the Dooley Center for Alternative Education explored the relationship between poverty, crime, substance abuse and unemployment. At the end of the school year, the students wrote and produced a short film to describe their thoughts. You can watch the film by clicking the link below.
